Today was the last day of the Spring soccer season. I have to say that even though Connor wasn't the star of any game, he did so much better this season than he did in the Fall! For starters, he didn't run the opposite direction this year! He ran towards the ball and would try to kick it! At the beginning of the season, he was more concerned about "playing defense" and would stay on a kid from the other team...even if the ball was at the opposite end of the field! But by mid season, he got the hang of it...kept his eye on the ball (not the other players) and tried to play more offense. He was so proud of himself for kicking the ball at each game!

Catching Up...Easter
So once again, I fell behind on blogging! Anyhow....here are some pictures of Easter this year. Shawn had to be at church at 7:30 in the morning (he sang in the choir at all three services) so it was just me and the boys Easter morning...which might be why I don't have very may pictures of them looking for eggs the Easter Bunny left! Luckily, I grabbed my camera right before we headed out for church.
After church, I made an Easter lunch. I know! Can you believe it??? I COOKED! I made a ham, deviled eggs, green bean casserole, and Texas Potatoes. It was real good if I do say so myself! That evening we went to my parent's house for dinner and the boys had a chance to hunt for eggs with Grandma and Grandpa.

Missing My Grandpa

Last night we were having Ketucky Fried Chicken for dinner and it got me thinking about my Grandpa. Yes...it was the chicken that brought on the memories. (What can I say? The man loved fried chicken! With his jalepeno peppers, that is!)
Some favorite memories:
1. Him and his cowboy hat that he always wore.
2. The way he would say "Angel, my love."
3. Dancing to "My Boogie Shoes" at my wedding! I think that was the first time I had seen him dance! I'm so thankful that I have it on video!
4. Slow dancing with me at my cousin Sharon's wedding
5. How he was there in the waiting room with us when Connor had his heart surgery, even though my Grandma was at home recovering from her own heart surgery.
6. How he couldn't get off work and come to the hospital with my Grandma the day Garrett was born, but he came up later that night by himself anyway when he got off work.
7. Going out to his truck for his "snake bite medicine." That's from my early days... he gave up drinking and chewing tobacco after his bout with colon cancer.
8. How he would pat the side of my face or give me strong love pats on the back when giving me a hug. I'd never tell him, but sometimes it hurt!
9. How he felt so bad for my Dad (his ex son-in-law) and showed so much concern for him when Justin died. He came to the funeral with Grandma to show their support for us.
10. And of course his long lasting love and marriage of 50 plus years with my Grnandma!
There's so many more of course, but these were the ones that came to mind last night.
I love you Paw Paw!

TKD Test
A few weeks ago Connor tested for his next belt in Tae Kwon Do...his yellow belt! He had to do a bunch of different forms, blocks, and punches...all of which Shawn could explain better than I could. But the coolest thing is that he had to break a board by hitting it with his fist! I was scared for him at first, but he actually did it! He really enjoys going and I have to give thanks to Master Lee for helping Connor to gain much more strength and confidence! Here are a few pictures that my Dad took:

I'm a Slacker!
It's been almost two months since my last post...what a slacker I am! In my defense, we have been quite busy. Last month Shawn and I decided to move to Frisco! We have been wanting out of our house/neighborhood for quite sometime. As luck would have it, a house that we both LOVE becasme available and we seized the opportunity! Now all we need to do is either get our old house sold or rented out. Keeping our fingers crossed! Did I mention how much we love our new house? You have to have seen our old house and how small it was to truly appreciate the new one. We are so muhc more confortbale here! We're not all on top of each other, yet it's still cozy! I will post pictures soon. I'm on Spring Break this week so I'll have some time to do fun stuff like that!
In other news...Shawna spent the weekend with us before she leaves on the 17th to go to Bootcamp for the Navy! We had some family over Friday night for a farewell get together. Saturday night, we took all four kids to Strikz in Frisco for games and bowling. The boys had a blast! Might not have been the best decision on our part as parents since Garrett is getting over having strep throat and Connor woke up this morning with a 101 fever and a sore throat! But we wanted to do something fun with just the 6 of us before Shawna left.
Finally, I'm looking forward to having some girls over in two weeks for a Twilight watching party! I know I'll have more to post then!

Growing Up
Well, Garrett is now sleeping in a toddler bed. Fittingly enough, he calls it "my new bed." As if taking down the crib wasn't enough of a reminder that my baby is no longer a baby, Garrett was moved up to a new room at daycare and his new teachers are wanting to potty train him! Today was the first day that he wore real underware! He did pretty well, actually. Only 2 accidents!
